How do I register for a RiderCourse?
Return a signed application with your payment to Go Motorcycling, Inc. We
will confirm your course date(s) and provide confirmation materials, including directions. You may obtain an application from this website, pick one up at most area motorcycle dealers, or request that we mail you one .

How much does the course cost?
The Basic RiderCourse costs $275
The Experienced RiderCourse costs $95

Who can take the Basic RiderCourse?
Anyone who is at least 16 years old and is able to ride a bicycle can take the Basic RiderCourse. (Students under age 18 will need the notarized signature of a parent or guardian. We will send you the form when you enroll. Click here for information on Junior Drivers & Graduated Licensing Law.)

Where are the courses offered?

When are the courses offered?
We start our Utica/Rome training season in mid-April and run through
October with convenient weekend and weekday schedules.

Our training season at JCC in Watertown runs from late May
(after graduation) thru mid-August – weekends only.

View our full schedule and class availability or call for full details.

How many students are in a class?
There are no more than 12 students in each class (with two RiderCoaches)

What kind of motorcycles do we use?
All of our training motorcycles are under 250cc’s. Some of our current models are Suzuki’s GZ250 and Kawasaki’s BN125. Each student has its own motorcycle to ride during the course.

Can I ride my personal motorcycle during the course?
BRC students are required to use our training bikes.
ERC students are required to use their own motorcycles.

What do I need to bring to class?
All students need proper riding gear: sturdy long pants, over-the-ankle footwear (like a hiking boot or a work boot), full-fingered gloves, and a
jacket. You may bring your own motorcycle helmet and eye protection, so
long as they meet DOT standards. We can lend you a helmet with eye protection if you do not have one of your own.

You will also need to bring 2 copies of your license and permit and the originals.

ERC students will also need to bring their motorcycle (duh!), and its registration and insurance card.

You’ll get specific details on what to bring once you are enrolled.

Does training take place in all kinds of weather?
Yes, the courses will take place during “normal” rainy conditions, so come prepared with a rainsuit if rain is imminent. Classes will be canceled/rescheduled in the event of severe weather – your RiderCoaches
will make that determination that day, so you should show up for class no matter what.

Do I need my Motorcycle Learner’s Permit to register?
No, but you will need your permit in place before the start of your course if
you wish to take advantage of the Road Test Waiver Option.

How do I get a learner’s permit?
Learner’s Permits are obtained at local DMV offices. You will be required
to take a 20 question, multiple-choice quiz testing your knowledge of the
rules of the road and motorcycling. You can study for your quiz by reviewing
the DMV Car and Motorcycle Operator’s Manuals.

How do I qualify for the Motorcycle Road Test Waiver?
You will need to have a valid NY State Driver’s License and a Motorcycle Learner’s Permit that are valid during your course dates - and for about one month after your course dates - in order to be eligible. Students who
possess these documents and who successfully complete their
RiderCourse are eligible for the Road Test Waiver.

Do I get my motorcycle license when I complete the course?
Not that same day. Within 2 – 6 weeks (sometimes sooner!) the Motorcycle Association of New York State (MANYS) will send you a three part form. You need to bring the “DMV” portion of this form down to your local DMV office to have your motorcycle endorsement added to your license.

What if I don’t pass my BRC knowledge or skills test?
BRC students who fail either the written or skills evaluations will be given an opportunity to re-test at no charge. Re-tests must be taken within 30 days of your course completion date.
